Dr. Edward L. Wright, author of “Spiritual Reflections of a Poetic Mind,” and “Anthology of a Spiritual Mind,” spent most of his early years in Denver, Colorado as the youngest of eight siblings. He was raised in a musically talented family that led to his playing the clarinet and saxophone. Throughout his early years, he enjoyed reading authors, e.g., James Baldwin, Richard Wright, and Gwendolyn Brooks, all of whom inspired him to create poetry.
Dr. Wright received a baccalaureate in Communications from the University of Colorado (Boulder). While earning his baccalaureate degree, he received a commission into the United States Air Force and served honorably on active duty for nine years attaining the rank of Captain.
He received a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of Northern Colorado. Subsequently, he received a Joint Doctorate in Educational Administration from California State University, Fresno; and the University of California (Davis). He also worked in various capacities within the California Community College system, e.g., TRIO Coordinator for Upward Bound, Director of Grants & Special Projects, U.S. Department of Education Reviewer for Grant-Funded Competitions, and Dean of Student Support Services.
For several years, Dr. Wright has been employed with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, serving in various capacities through the Veterans Service Center, e.g., Veteran Service Representative, and Legal Administrative Specialist. He currently serves as a Field Examiner, through the Indianapolis Fiduciary Hub, initiating the oversight and protection of VA Funds for veterans and their dependents.
Dr. Wright resides in Ohio and is married to Darryl Ann Wright, a special needs educator, and entrepreneur of Deanna Adelle, Incorporated. Dr. Wright has four adult children and is the proud grandfather of four adorable granddaughters Mylae Grace, Amiya Faith, Alani Roselyn, Alora Kinsley, and one grandson, Jameson.
